About the Course

  • The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Financial Management is a four-year undergraduate programme that blends accounting knowledge with finance within a general education framework that develops students with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical money management decision skills for businesses and organizations as well as forming them morally.
  • Distinctively, the programme offers a double major in accounting and financial management built on a strong Christian foundation as the basis of theory generation and critique.
  • The intended graduates from this programme should posses practical application knowledge and be able to provide leadership and managerial skills with high moral and ethical integrity and professional behaviour
  • The BSc in Accountancy and Financial Management is designed for those who intend to develop careers in Accountancy and Financial Management or engage in high level decision making in the areas of corporate financial management, derivatives, risk management, mergers and acquisitions.
  • It is perfect training for senior positions in investment banks, financial consultancies and government ministries.
  • This programme is also a logical preparatory training for managerial professionals.
  • It targets people with pre-university credentials with basic knowledge in finance and accounting to pursue a university level degree in their professions.
  • It also targets school leavers who are desirous to make a career in the financial industry.

Admission Requirements

For a student to be admitted he/she must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements:


1.    Be a holder of KCSE (or equivalent examination) certificate with a minimum
      aggregate of C+ and a minimum of C+ in both Mathematics and English/Kiswahili,

2.    Be a holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and a
      minimum of a credit pass in Mathematics at KCE,

3.    Diploma in relevant disciplines in the field of business from an institution recognized
      by the university senate in liaison with CHE.

4.    Be a holder of CPA/CPS Part II or any other qualification accepted by the University
      Senate as equivalent to any of the above.

Mode of delivery

  • Synchronous contacts between lecturers and students will be the primary mode of delivery.
  • Such contacts will be done on the main university campus or its extension sites.
  • Notwithstanding, depending on the advances the Institution will make in ICT, a mixed synchronous and asynchronous modes of delivery is envisaged.
  • Also, the programme will require on the field supervised practicum; seminars and research.
